Following a very successful instrument drive on November 2nd, The D’Addario Foundation and its event partner Hungry for Music have been hard at work preparing the donated instruments and choosing where they will be distributed.
Earlier this week, an Ibanez bass that was purchased at a local Sam Ash and donated to our drive by a gentleman in Italy (read more about the story here) was handed off to an amazing young musician in the Hudson Valley: Rowan.
Hungry for Music gave Rowan a keyboard when she was nine when her aunt felt like she had musical talent and wanted to give her lessons. Within a week, Rowan impressed her music teacher by teaching herself a song that she was only shown the introduction of the week before. At around twelve, Rowan wanted to be involved with Paul Green’s Rock Academy in the Hudson Valley, and desired to play electric bass. HFM subsequently gave her a beginner bass and she thrived. Rowan is now taking lessons at her dad’s studio in New York.
Rowan was so excited to receive the beautiful new Ibanez bass!
