The dedicated students in the D’Addario Foundation’s very own Ascenté Chamber Orchestra program just completed an immersive summer camp experience where they received free instrument instruction 4 hours a day, 3 days a week for 4 weeks! The recital on Wednesday evening showcased the students amazing progress. These kids are so special and are extremely eager to have the opportunity to mentor the next generation of young musicians, as the program will soon expand to include a new cohort of students (many of which are siblings of the original group). Pictured below are some of our current students introducing the instruments to the children interested in joining the program in the fall.
Victoria, violinist and class president of her grade, recently said that learning an instrument is not only fun but also life-changing, it has taken her places she never imagined, and that the orchestra really is a family to her.
This program would not be made possible without the ongoing dedication of our amazing Educational Director, Kelly Flynn, and teachers, Tommy Wu and Stacy Szabo, who have each been key mentors in the students’ lives for 3 to 4 years.
