Does the Foundation follow an open-grant process or is there a timeline?
There are two opportunities in a calendar year to apply for support from the D'Addario Foundation, September 15 and March 15th. We suggest a decision be made regarding the appropriate deadline to apply to based on when you need to receive funding. What if I am applying for support of a program that takes place over the course of the year?
Based on the above guidelines the timing of award receipts should guide you as to which review period is appropriate for you to apply. If you need funding in the beginning of the year, follow the grant application guidelines for the September 15th deadline. If you need funding in the summer months follow guidelines for the March 15th deadline.

How should we submit our application?
You must submit an initial letter of inquiry if you are new to the D'Addario Foundation by email to: foundation@daddario.com. Please refer to the Grant Guidelines page of the website for details. If you are an organization applying for continued support you must fill out both an application and follow-up report via the website.

How often can I apply for a grant from the Foundation?
Organizations are welcome to apply for grants once every calendar year. If you have received a grant and are re-applying the following year you must first provide a detailed follow-up report before your application will again be considered.

What if we miss a deadline...are exceptions made?
No. In an effort to be fair to the organizations that have worked hard to meet our deadlines, we ask any organization that misses a deadline to resubmit their application for the following deadline approximately six months later.

How will I know if my application is received?
Applications submitted via our website will receive a confirmation email in return. If you do not receive a confirmation from the D'Addario Foundation within a reasonable amount of time, please check in with us at foundation@daddario.com.

If I apply for funding and am denied, how soon can I re-apply?
Depending on the circumstance of your denial, you may re-apply for funding in the next calendar year's round.

If I am only seeking a product donation from D'Addario, D'Addario Bowed, Evans, Rico, Planet Waves, HQ or Pure Sound should I apply for a Foundation grant?
As long as your organization fits within our mission and it is a 501(c) (3), it is possible to receive product from our brands. We like to call this type of support an in-kind donation. Submit a letter of inquiry by the appropriate deadline to foundation@daddario.com.

Is it possible to receive product from D'Addario, D'Addario Bowed, Evans, Rico, Planet Waves, HQ or Pure Sound in addition to a cash award?
Yes, absolutely. On the grant application there is a section that specifically asks if your organization has a need for a product donation. You may choose to receive a product donation along with your request for a cash grant.

How many organizations are funded each year?
While there is no fixed number, we average over 100 grants each year.

What is the average amount given per grant?
The average dollar amount generally granted is approximately $2,500.

Do you fund symphony orchestras or their outreach programs?
No. Considering our limited resources and the large number of orchestras doing introductory outreach, it would be difficult for us to support just a few of these programs without considering hundreds of similar requests.

What other types of things do you not fund?
We do not fund individuals, religious, veteran or fraternal organizations, telethons or benefits, capital campaigns, endowments or building fund drives, political or lobbying organizations. Additionally we currently do not seek to fund drum circles, vocal programs, songwriting workshops, and music therapy programs.

If you are unsure as to whether your program meets the criteria to be considered for funding please write to foundation@daddario.com with your questions.
